Congratulations to longtime Old Colony client Brereton Jones

on winning the $581,650 Kentucky Oaks (G1) with his homebred filly Proud Spell!

Trained by Larry Jones, Proud Spell stalked the early pace

before she took control of the nine-furlong race at the top of the stretch.

The diminutive bay launched her bid in earnest at the eighth pole and drew off impressively

to win the American classic by five widening lengths.

Proud Spell banked $342,596 for her efforts to push her career earnings to $1,281,366.

The victory was her fifth from eight starts, and it was her second Oaks score

following a victory over reigning Champion filly Indian Blessing

in the Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) in March.
