William A. Carl, a native and long-time resident of Kentucky, graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1951, after distinguishing himself scholastically and athletically. Following his tour of duty as an intelligence officer and later as Captain in the Air Force Reserve, Bill, in 1954, returned to Lexington, where he began his insurance career and also first evidenced his involvement in many civic and charitable concerns.

Within the insurance community, he is recognized as an innovator and is highly respected by insurance markets and clients alike. Bill Carl was an insurance practitioner until 1964, when his entrepreneurial spirit gave birth to Old Colony Insurance Service.

Bill's philosophy is simply a commitment to excellence, accomplished by employing only highly motivated, hardworking and intelligent associates. Combined with a personalized hands-on management style, these precepts stand today as the corporate philosophy of Old Colony Insurance Service.
